Tras ver estas horribles palabras, una gran cantidad de demócratas y haste republicanos recordaron el papel que ha tenido Lweis en la defensa de los derechos civiles del país y lo describieron como uno de los mejores defensores de la justicia estadounidense.
John Lewis ha sido visto como un ícono del partido demócrata que ha trabajado incansablemente por los derechos civiles.
